THE EVENT
Patensie is a beautiful little town in the heart of the Gamtoos Valley, Eastern Cape. We are a strong-knit community and we strive on welcoming tourists and visitors. Patensie is also one of the biggest citrus producing regions in South Africa.
The first runners of the Gamtoos Valley Farm Run crossed the starting line in 2022 and we are proud to say that we have hosted two amazing events to date.
The Farm Run is the brainchild of our two organizers, Bianca van Niekerk and Chrisma Rautenbach. The dream was to have an event that supports the community as a whole.
We are planning to make the 2025 event even bigger and better than the previous ones to get this race the attention it deserves. Because what is better than farm, fruit, fresh air and community?
In 2024, we updated our name to the Gamtoos Half Marathon, to give emphasis to our main race, the 21.1km event.
Our runners can be sure to experience the Gamtoos Valley in all its glory on the three routes. To run between our pride and joy, our citrus orchards, to experience and learn a little more about our local businesses and charities and to just come and have a great day out with the family.
All proceeds from this event goes to the Gamtoos Valley community, schools and local charities.
